Terms of service
Effective 30 July 2026 · Maple Coat Painting Corp., 1 Rideau St, #728, Ottawa, ON K1N 8S7
These terms govern use of the Maple Coat website and standard painting services. Your project-specific contract controls the verified scope, price, timing, and any terms that differ for your project.
1. Website estimates and service availability
Website prices are calculated from the room size, condition, occupancy, location, surfaces, and options you select. Submitting an order is a request for human scope verification, not acceptance by Maple Coat and not a promise of a date. Service is available only in the published service area and where a suitable crew and safe working conditions are available.
2. Scope and written contract
The published standard scope explains the normal service. Your written contract restates the verified rooms, surfaces, preparation, exclusions, materials, colours, price, deposit, and scheduling method. No painting work begins until the contract is accepted and the required deposit is confirmed.
3. Prices, HST, and Price Lock Guarantee
Prices are in Canadian dollars before HST. Ontario HST is itemized before contract acceptance and on payment documents. The order is pinned to the active pricing version when submitted. After Maple Coat verifies the scope and you accept the contract, Maple Coat absorbs a scope-pricing mistake for that verified work. Customer-requested additions and newly discovered conditions outside the verified scope require a written change order; they are never charged silently. Once we've checked your photos, your price is locked. If the photos missed something, we tell you the new price before you book, and you can walk away at no cost. After booking, the price never goes up unless you ask for add-ons. If we find hidden damage on site, we stop and quote it first, and you can say no and keep the original job at the original price.
4. Photo verification
Every project is reviewed by a person; nothing is cleared automatically. You must provide current, clear, representative images and identify known damage or unusual conditions. If the photos do not support the submitted selections, Maple Coat may request more information or propose a revised scope and price before contract acceptance. Photos are handled under the privacy policy.
5. Deposit, balance, and payment records
The standard deposit is 15% of the verified pre-HST subtotal, capped at $500. The exact amount appears in the contract. The remaining balance is due after the contracted work is completed and the completion walkthrough is available. Card details are processed by the payment provider; Maple Coat stores transaction references and accounting records, not full card numbers.
6. Scheduling, access, and customer responsibilities
Available dates appear only after contract acceptance and deposit confirmation. You must provide safe and lawful access, working utilities, a reasonably clear work area, accurate access instructions, and any building permissions. Remove fragile, valuable, and personal items and secure pets. Maple Coat may pause or reschedule work where access, unsafe conditions, suspected hazardous materials, active water damage, mould, or other conditions make the verified work unsuitable.
7. Timing, changes, and delays
A qualifying one-room project has the stated two-business-day completion commitment from the agreed start date. Other projects use the timing written in their contract. Weather, access, unsafe or hidden conditions, supply interruption, customer changes, and events outside reasonable control may affect timing. Maple Coat will explain a material delay and document any agreed change.
8. Cancellation and rescheduling
The cancellation and rescheduling policy forms part of these terms and is restated in the project contract. It explains deposit refunds, credits, notice periods (there are no cancellation or rescheduling fees), and what happens if Maple Coat must move a date. Nothing in that policy limits a cancellation, refund, or other remedy that cannot legally be limited.
9. Quality, property protection, and touch-ups
Maple Coat will protect the work area, perform the accepted scope to an even professional finish, clean the work area, and address application defects identified at the completion review. Report suspected property damage promptly so it can be documented and assessed.
10. Acceptable website use
Do not misuse the site, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with another customer's project, submit unlawful content, or upload files you do not have the right to provide. Website content, branding, and software remain the property of their respective owners. Colour previews are approximate and are not a substitute for approving a physical sample.
11. Communications and privacy
Transactional messages about an order, contract, payment, appointment, or service request are part of providing the service. Marketing and checkout-recovery messages require separate consent and include a way to unsubscribe. Personal information is handled under the privacy policy.
12. Liability and consumer rights
Each party remains responsible for losses caused by its own breach, negligence, or unlawful conduct, subject to applicable law and the project contract. Maple Coat is not responsible for pre-existing defects, undisclosed conditions, inaccurate customer information, ordinary product colour variation, or delay outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or right that Ontario or Canadian law does not permit the parties to exclude.
13. Governing law, changes, and contact
Ontario law and applicable Canadian law govern these terms. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. The terms displayed when an order is submitted are recorded with that order; later public changes do not rewrite an accepted contract. Questions or notices can be sent to hello@maplecoatpainting.ca.
