How much does it cost to paint a room in Ottawa?
Most painters answer this with "it depends" and a site visit. Here's every number we charge, so you can work it out yourself. All prices are in Canadian dollars before HST, and paint is included.
1. The room
Walls, two coats, one colour:

Which size is my room? Go by floor area. Small is up to 120 sq ft (10x10, 10x12). Medium is 121–200 sq ft (12x12 to 12x16), and a plain bedroom is priced as medium. Large is 201–350 sq ft (14x16, 16x20), such as a living room. Over 350 sq ft (an open main floor, say), send us your rooms and we price it for you.
More than one room? Each lived-in room after the first: small $665, medium $905, large $1,140.

3. The only things that can add to it

Ceilings 11 ft and up, vaulted ceilings and stairwells over 10 ft are priced by a painter. Each charge appears as its own line in your price before you send anything, plus HST.
Three examples for one small lived-in room
From our price list:
- Walls only: $795. Four stock whites included, or any named colour for $85 more (premium paint).
- Walls + ceiling + accent wall: $1,195. Opens the full curated palette.
- Every painted surface: $1,445. That is $1,650 in items at live prices, less $205 when you do all surfaces together. Walls, ceiling, accent wall, trim and doors, closet and premium paint on every surface, any colour.
What the price includes
Washing and light scuff-sanding, filling up to about a dozen small holes, floor and furniture protection, two coats of paint, cutting-in and full cleanup. Details: what's included.
What it doesn't include
Drywall repair beyond minor filling, wallpaper and popcorn ceilings, mould, cabinets, exterior painting, decks and fences.
Three rooms in one order: three small lived-in rooms are $2,125 + HST (the first at $795, then two at $665), and larger rooms follow the same first-room, next-room pattern.
Referred by a friend? Book through their referral link and you get $100 off your first job of $500 or more before HST. Once we've checked your photos, your price is locked. After you book, it never goes up unless you ask for more work or the crew finds hidden damage, and then you can say no and keep the original scope at the original price.

Only published ones, each shown as its own line before you send: minor prep, a big colour change, 9 ft ceilings (+10% of the walls price for that room) or 10 ft ceilings (+20%). Ceilings 11 ft and up, and vaulted ceilings, are priced by a painter.
Is HST included?
No. Prices are in Canadian dollars before 13% Ontario HST, which is itemized before you pay.
Why is a second room cheaper?
Setup and the supply run are paid once. Lived-in rooms after the first are $665 small, $905 medium, $1,140 large.
