Exterior, cabinet and deck painting: what we do and don't paint
People search for "painters" and expect one company to do everything. We'd rather be clear: Maple Coat paints interior rooms in Ottawa homes, with published prices. Some jobs we don't do, and we say so before you pay.
What we don't paint
From our what's included page, these aren't part of our standard service:
- Exterior painting, decks and fences
- Kitchen cabinets and built-in spraying
- Wallpaper removal and popcorn-ceiling work
- Mould or moisture-damaged surfaces
- Drywall repair beyond minor filling
- Open stairwells taller than one storey, and ceilings over about 10 ft
- Commercial premises

Hiring for exterior, cabinet or deck work
For the jobs we don't do, ask any contractor for:
- A written scope that names every surface.
- What prep is included and what's extra.
- Proof of liability insurance and WSIB coverage.
- For pre-1960 homes, how they handle possible lead paint (Health Canada guidance).

Do you paint house exteriors?
No. Exterior painting, decks and fences aren't part of our service. We paint interior rooms.
Do you paint kitchen cabinets?
No. Kitchen cabinets and built-in spraying aren't part of our standard service.
Do you paint the inside of a closet?
Yes. A reach-in closet interior is $130 per room.
Can you paint my kitchen walls?
Yes. A kitchen is a medium room: $1,035 lived-in, walls two coats one colour, before HST.
